Student Leadership


A student leader at the Hospitality Leadership Initiative oversees an assigned program and serves as the main contact for participating students. They help coordinate activities, ensuring meaningful engagement and the program’s success.

Selected leaders will have the opportunity to participate in the annual Ritz-Carlton Leadership Retreat, hosted in 2025 at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver, at the start of the fall semester.

Programs available for student leaders include:

Hospitality on Campus

A structured rotational internship placing students in hospitality roles across campus. These opportunities will take the form of rotational job placements through key campus departments. Allowing students to gain hands-on experience and develop a well-rounded hospitality skillset.

Hospitality Rising Summit

Invites students to participate in an exciting one-day event featuring presentations, workshops, and networking events in partnership with the Utah Tourism Industry Association (UTIA). This annual summit brings together high school students, college students, and industry professionals to showcase and highlight the variety of opportunities within the hospitality industry.

Utah Tourism Analytics

Students conduct market research, economic impact studies, and feasibility studies in collaboration with Utah tourism organizations. Their findings help guide destination marketing strategies and support tourism economic development statewide.

Available to MRED, MBA, and MArch students.

Field Trip Friday

Students explore top hospitality businesses, industry innovators, and multi-disciplinary teams, gaining hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and insights into the evolving hospitality industry.
